Town And Regional Planner: Area B

T14 (R 558 408,30 – R 724 838,37 Per Annum)

REQUIREMENTS

  • A relevant B-degree or BTech in Town/Urban & Regional Planning
  • Registered as a Professional Planner or eligible to be registered within two (2) years from date of appointment.
  • 2 – 5 Year’s relevant experience required
  • Valid Code B Driver’s License with own transport.
  • Computer Literacy: MS Office and;
  • Proficient in at least two (2) of the three (3) official languages of the Western Cape

 

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

  • Identifies, defines, aligns and implements key requirements associated with the land use and development planning functionality.
  • Ensure that the functionality is positioned to deliver on strategic planning objectives.
  • Coordinates key processes, applications and requirements related to land use and developmental plans, spatial development frameworks, traffic and environmental impact assessments.
  • Ensure that due consideration is given to critical needs in the design of land use and development plans and adequate consultation occurs in respect of the impact of implementation.
  • Evaluates land use and developmental applications.
  • Ensure that the applications conform to laid down legislative requirements, town planning schemes and regulations prior to the approval been granted.
  • Evaluate and comment on building plan applications from a land use planning perspective.
  • Ensure that building plans conform to laid down legislative requirements, town planning schemes and regulations prior to the approval been granted.
  • Monitors specific activities associated with enforcing land use planning statutory requirements and regulations.
  • Ensure that laid down land use planning regulations and legislation are enforced, and deviations rectified or appropriately dealt with.
  • Implements procedures, systems and controls to regulate specific work sequences and general practices/processes associated with property management (lease/disposal of vacant and developed municipal land).
  • Ensure that the functionality can support municipal property management objectives.
  • Disseminates functional and operational information on the immediate, short- and long-term objectives and current developments, problems and constraints and interacts with internal/external role-players.
  • Ensure that information, advice or opinions on relevant land use planning matters are made available and/or communicated through the various mediums and accurately interpreted through the provision of adequate and clear explanation.
  • Ensure relevant forward planning and related policy formulation.
  • Ensure important co-ordination of land development management.
  • Ensure efficient response to all stakeholders and professional management of the Town Planning Department.
  • Ensure that applications which are submitted to the Town Planning Department are in line with the appropriate zoning scheme regulations and information are easily accessible to the public.
  • Ensure accurate building plans.
  • Ensure that the Manager: Planning and Development is well informed of current planning affairs.
  • Responsible for the processing and administration of the Council, Tribunal and Delegated Authorities decision.
  • Manage and coordinate liquor license applications.
  • Ensure Land use inspections are carried out on an ongoing basis.
  • Ensure effective functioning within the relevant legislation.

Candidates must be willing to be subjected to an interview and written/competency assessment. They must also be aware that previous employers and recent references may be contacted, and their qualifications and criminal records be verified. The appointment will be subject to the signing of an employment contract, performance agreement and disclosure of interest.
