Oudtshoorn, 20 May 2020 – One of the emergency officials in the Oudtshoorn Fire station got in contact with a COVID19 positive person in a car accident scene. The emergency official that attended the accident scene who is now on self-quarantine, exercised all the necessary precaution during rescue operation.
The status of the COVID19 positive patient was confirmed yesterday (19 May 2020) following admission at the Hospital.
As a precautionary measure, the Municipal Management has asked the personnel that were in indirect contact to stay at home and return on Monday. Meanwhile, all the procedures to ensure that the Fire station personnel and the station remain uninfected were taken.
The station and vehicles were disinfected. The Municipal emergency unit and services are continuing as normal.
