Oudtshoorn, 20 June 2023 – Oudtshoorn Municipality launched the Oudtshoorn Sports Festival on 19 June 2023 during a function for all organizers and sponsors. Organizers and sponsors were thanked for the events that will involve various sports codes and will once again attract thousands of people from all over the country and even from abroad to Oudtshoorn.
Mr Noel Van Stade, Director of Community Services, welcomed the attendees to the 2023 Sports Festival launch alongside the program director Mr Ian Laubscher, Sports Development Officer. The Sports Festival will commence on 22 June 2023 till 13 July 2023 and is organized by the Oudtshoorn Municipality in conjunction with the Western Cape Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport, the Oudtshoorn Sports Council, Eden Sport Council, and Regional and Provincial Sports Federations.

The Oudtshoorn Municipality will be the leading partner of the Sports Festival. With financial support from the Western Cape Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport, sports federations are enabled to host major events in Oudtshoorn. The main objective of the Sports Festival is to promote the Greater Oudtshoorn as a preferred sport destination within the Southern and Western Cape, to promote sport tourism as well as to promote social cohesion.
Ranger Grebe’s Kickboxing Club (Grebe’s Kickboxing Club) also made an appearance. Giving a demonstration of their skills on the kickboxing mat. Some of the talented kickboxers are number one in the country.
The Oudtshoorn municipality is proud to host this sports festival every year.
