Oudtshoorn, 18 October 2016 – A slight tremor occurred along the Cango fault line north of Oudtshoorn at approximately 08:30 this morning.
According to the Eden District Disaster Management, the tremor was measured at 3.4 on the Richter scale and is calculated at 6km into the ground. Council for Geoscience is currently ascertaining the point of origin.
Residents in the area are advised that there is no reason to panic and no damages have been reported.
As a precautionary measure, Oudtshoorn Municipal management has temporarily closed tours at the Cango Caves. More details will be communicated in due course.
