Oudtshoorn, 16 April 2024 – Provincial Minister of Infrastructure, Tertuis Simmers, delivered door-to-door title deeds to beneficiaries with disabilities in Dysselsdorp’s housing project on Thursday, 11 April 2024, with the Executive Mayor of the Greater Oudtshoorn, Alderman Chris Macpherson, Cllr Liluth Van Rooyen and Cllr Christine Muller.
In a press release from Ntobeko Mbingeleli, the spokesperson for Provincial Minister Tertuis Simmers, it was stated that this initiative represents a remarkable achievement for the community, having successfully delivered 459 houses as part of the development.
Minister Simmers stated that “this outreach event is part of the department’s efforts to commemorate Freedom Month and ensure that all members of the community benefit from secure homeownership.”
Alderman Chris Macpherson, alongside Mayco members, Councillors, and officials of the Human Settlement department, joined the Western Cape Minister of Infrastructure, Tertuis Simmers, in this door-to-door delivery of title deeds to 11 beneficiaries. Minister Simmers emphasized the power of these deeds, transferring full ownership of the homes to their rightful owners, thereby recognizing both their responsibilities and assets.
Expressing gratitude, Mayor Macpherson remarked, “I extend my heartfelt appreciation to the Western Cape Minister of Infrastructure for gracing Dysselsdorp with his presence to personally deliver these deeds.”
“It is important to know that housing is a function of National and Provincial Government and not municipalities. Municipalities only avail land for the development of housing.”
