Oudtshoorn, 01 March 2023 – The municipality has noticed that there is an increase in individuals and small groups who are creating platforms in the communities for themselves and then requesting appointments with the Executive Mayor of the Greater Oudtshoorn and Municipal Manager to discuss complaints. The municipality also noticed that some groups use social media to compile petitions. Residents are therefore reminded that there are prescribed routes to follow regarding community issues.
- The first step is to approach ward councillors who will bring issues to the attention of the Executive Mayor and Municipal Manager.
- Appointments regarding service delivery will only be considered if the issue had already been discussed with the ward councillor.
- Regarding petitions, it is important to note that petitions will only be accepted if the list contains the signature, name and surname, ID number and physical address to verify if petitioners are residents of Oudtshoorn.
The Greater Oudtshoorn is governed by a democratically elected council and each ward has an elected ward councillor who can be contacted to assist residents.
PETISIES EN HOE DIT WERK BELANGRIKE KENNISGEWING AAN INWONERS VAN DIE GROTER OUDTSHOORN
Oudtshoorn, 01 Maart 2023 – Die munisipaliteit het opgemerk dat dit toenemend gebeur dat individue sowel as klein groeperinge munisipale kwessies gebruik om eie platforms in die gemeenskap te skep en dan versoek om die Uitvoerende Burgemeester van die Groter Oudtshoorn en die munisipale bestuurder te sien om klagtes te bespreek. Sommige groepe wend hulle ook tot sosiale media om petisies of versoekskrifte aan die burgemeester en munisipale bestuurder te oorhandig. Inwoners word daarop gewys dat daar spesifieke roetes gevolg moet word om klagtes onder die burgemeester en munisipale bestuurder se aandag te bring.
- Inwoners moet kwessies ten eerste met hulle wyksraadslede opneem waarna dit deur die raadslede oorgedra sal word.
- Geen afsprake oor kwessies wat dienste aanbetref sal voortaan toegestaan word indien die wyksraadslid nie eers genader is nie.
- Wat petisies aanbetref is dit belangrik om te weet dat daar nie gerageer word op petisies wat op sosiale media geloods word nie. Petisielyste wat aan die munisipaliteit gerig word moet petisielede se handtekeninge, name, vanne, identiteitsnommers sowel as woonadresse bevat sodat daar geverifieer kan word dat die persone wel inwoners is.
Die Groter Oudtshoorn word deur ‘n demokraties verkose raad bestuur en elke wyk het ‘n verkose wyksraadslid wat gekontak kan word om inwoners by te staan.
