Oudtshoorn’s former Acting Chief Financial Officer resigns

Oudtshoorn, 08 March 2016 – The Administrator of the Oudtshoorn Municipality, Mr. Kam Chetty, wishes to confirm that the former acting Chief Financial Officer in the municipality, Mr. Francois Human, has resigned with a three month notice period.

By mutual agreement, Mr. Human would not complete a notice period of three months but would leave the employment of the municipality with immediate effect.

The Oudtshoorn municipality was placed under administration in July 2015 with Chetty being appointed as the administrator following the intervention by the National and Provincial government.

“This represents more progress towards stabilising the local council ahead of local government elections,” Chetty says.

A final report on the forensic investigation into Oudtshoorn municipality was handed over to Anton Bredell, the Minister of Local Government, Environmental Affairs and Development Planning in the Western Cape at the beginning of March.

The investigation found and investigated 132 contraventions, mostly pertaining to the Municipal Finance Management Act, as well as municipal policies and legislation.

“The Minister has appointed a task team who will advise him on matters arising from the report. If this action should include criminal prosecution then that will be what will happen,” Chetty says.
