Oudtshoorn water update

Oudtshoorn, April 20, 2017 – The latest organic water samples results indicate that the water is safe for human consumption except for two areas; Wesbank north and southern parts of Jan van Riebeeck Road, said the director of Technical services, Chris Koch during a press conference yesterday.

“It is unclear why the areas furthest away from source failed the test and therefore we decided to conduct more tests on Tuesday to verify and monitor progress of the situation especially in the two affected areas; results will be available on Friday,” Koch added.

Koch also indicated that it is unpredictable how long the problem would continue, but the inflow into Raubenheimer dam is already of pristine quality and he is optimistic about the recovery of water quality.

Meanwhile, Mayor Colan Sylvester still encourages citizens to boil water before use.
