Oudtshoorn Council considers tabled draft IDP and Budget

Oudtshoorn, 27 May 2019 – The Oudtshoorn Municipal Council has noted the draft Integrated Development Planning (IDP) review for the 2019/2020 financial year, as well as the draft multi-year operating and capital budget for 2019/2020 to 2021/2022, in a Special Council Meeting today, following tabling of both documents by the Executive Mayor, Colan Sylvester.

The two documents will now be availed to the general public of the Greater Oudtshoorn for scrutiny, at the Municipal website, municipal pay points, libraries and Municipal satellite offices. Thereafter, ward based public meetings will be convened to obtain comments from the public in respect of the IDP and budget.

The public, as part of the community participation process required by the law, will be afforded a 21-day period after today’s consideration of both IDP and budget, to submit their comments in writing to the offices of the Municipal Manager and the Executive Mayor. The final draft IDP and budget will subsequently be presented before Council for approval at the end of June 2019.

Meanwhile, the Municipality will also send an electronic and hard copies of the noted draft IDP review and draft budget to the offices of the Western Cape MEC for Local Government, National Treasury and Provincial Treasury as required by legislation.

Mayor Sylvester has also announced the 6^th of June as being the date for Councillors’ workshop on the draft IDP and budget.
