New Deputy Mayor to Be Elected For Greater Oudtshoorn

Oudtshoorn, 25 April 2022 The Council of the Greater Oudtshoorn will soon elect a new deputy mayor at a special council meeting that will be held on Tuesday, 03 May 2022, where the election process is among the agenda items.

This comes after a motion of no confidence that was submitted during an ordinary council meeting Friday, 22 April 2022, to replace Cllr Vlancio Donson as deputy mayor, was successful.

At the same council meeting, a motion of exigency was submitted to remove Mr Walter Hendricks as acting municipal manager. After an in-committee discussion and vote, 13 councillors voted in favour of the motion and 12 councillors against the motion. Hendricks was removed from his position and Mr Gerald De Jager, chief financial officer, was appointed as acting municipal manager. Mr Bjorn Metembo will be acting as the chief financial officer.
