Mayor Macpherson Commends the Greater Oudtshoorn for Adhering to Covid19 Protocols

Oudtshoorn, 17 June 2021 – A recent statistical report released by the Garden Route District Municipality on Monday this week (14 June 2021) shows that the district received an increase of 110% new COVID19 infections over a Seven day period last week.

This report, however, shows that Oudtshoorn had the least increase on new COVID19 cases in the district. “This report indicates that our community’s behaviour in adhering to the necessary protocols is positive,” said the executive mayor, Chris Macpherson.

“We would like to acknowledge and thank the people of the Greater Oudtshoorn for their cooperation and adhering to the COVID19 regulations, and at the same time encourage our citizens to continue adhering the protocols,” Macpherson added.

We are now at a point of starting vaccination for teachers and frontline workers, we want to plead with our citizens to register for vaccination as and when the opportunity presents itself for the various groups for vaccination.

We remain concern though that the Country had an increase of 13 246 as of 16 June 2021. The statistics released by the Garden Route District Municipality on Thursday, 17 June 2021 show that the Greater Oudtshoorn has 63 active cases. The total infections in the Greater Oudtshoorn since the beginning of COVID19 to date 4251 with 3889 recoveries and deaths related to COVID19 stand at 299. 

“While we continue this battle against COVID19, let us continue to continue to adhere to COVID19 protocols which are wash our hands or sanitise, wear our masks, observe safe social distancing and avoid crowded places, it’s possible, we can do it!.”
