Oudtshoorn, 27 August 2024 – The Executive Mayor of Greater Oudtshoorn, Alderman Johan Allers, in collaboration with the Government of Local Unity, has initiated the “Fix Our Streetlights” campaign. This important initiative is part of the municipality’s ongoing goal to provide and maintain reliable municipal services and essential infrastructure that supports economic growth and community well-being in all our wards.
Executive Mayor Allers emphasized the importance of community involvement: “A well-lit street is not just a matter of convenience, but a critical component of public safety. Darkened areas can attract crime, pose hazards to pedestrians, and create an environment of insecurity.” He further stated that through collective effort, neighbourhoods can be made safe, welcoming, and bright. Every resident is encouraged to actively participate in this campaign by promptly reporting any broken or flickering streetlights.
The “Fix Our Streetlights” campaign is built on the power of collective action. Residents across Greater Oudtshoorn are encouraged to be vigilant and proactive in identifying and reporting streetlight issues in their areas.
To make reporting as easy as possible, residents can call in their issues or submit them on our Collab Citizen App.
- Phone: 044 203 3090 or 044 203 3086
- Collab Citizens App: Available for download on major app stores, the app allows residents to quickly and efficiently log issues with streetlights and other municipal services.
The municipality is committed to responding swiftly to all reports, with dedicated teams ready to address issues as they arise.
This campaign is another step toward our vision of a safe town. “We are confident that, with your help, we can achieve our goal of ensuring that every street is well-lit and secure. Let’s come together to make a difference—one streetlight at a time.”
