Following an in-committee session today, Speaker of Council, Alderman Suzane Jansen, also announced that Council recommended the appointment of Mr Gerald De Jager as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) after a formal recruitment process.
The office of the Municipal Manager also received a communique last month confirming concurrence for the appointment of Mr Ian Avontuur as Director: Community Services.
In terms of municipal regulations, the appointment of a Director, a Municipal Manager or a Chief Financial Officer (CFO), must be submitted to the MEC for Local Government for concurrence. This ensures that the candidate meets all the prescribed competencies and compliance requirements as outlined in the Municipal Systems Act and related regulations.
