Oudtshoorn, 14 June 2017 – Youth day celebrations will be hosted by Oudtshoorn Municipality in collaboration with various stakeholders of the community of the Greater Oudtshoorn on Friday, 16 June 2017.
Bridging the Gap youth day celebrations
The events are two pronged; a youth day celebrations event themed, “Bridging the Gap” will be hosted at Bongolethu Stadium at 10:00 in partnership with the Oudtshoorn Youth Café and the following stakeholders: Cape Nature, SUFF, Western Cape Department of Social Development, Malele Development Organisation, Love Life and Oudtshoorn Christian Youth Forum. This theme is according to organizers aimed at bringing the youth of the past and youth of today together, to build a better tomorrow, according to organizers. Mayor Colan Sylvester will address the attendees as a guest speaker. This event will be preceded by a jogging that will start at the Oudtshoorn Municipality office at Voortrekker Road at 08:00 to the Bongolethu Stadium at 10:00.
Dysselsdorp fun run
Meanwhile, another event will be hosted by the South African Police Service (SAPS) in partnership with the Oudtshoorn Municipality and other stakeholders in the community of Dysselsdorp, also on Friday, 16 June 2017. A 5km and 10km fun run in memory of those who passed away on 16 June 1976 has been scheduled to start at 07:30. The fun run will start at Dysselweg turn left into Bellie Street go straight down, turn right into Dysselsweg head straight down behind the High school, and turn left into Adonisweg straight down the Kolping. This will be followed by a march that will start at Kolping House straight up Adonis Road, turn right into Dysselsweg straight to the Dysselsdorp Community Hall. The main event at the hall starts at 11:00,
