Garden Route Health Platform Update

The Garden Route district has vaccinated 7871  healthcare workers as of 13 May 2021 as part of the district’s roll-out of the Sisonke vaccination programme.
 
The Western Cape Department of Health will officially launch the province’s Phase 2 vaccination rollout on 17 May in the Metro focusing on over 60s. Over the next few weeks, more vaccination sites will come online, including Rural sites (Garden Route). These sites and dates will be communicated as they come online.
We would like to advise citizens on what to expect as we move forward during this phase. We encourage those over 60 to register for the vaccine.  To register, please visit www.westerncape.gov.za and click on the link, or Dial *134*832# and follow the prompts (FREE on all South African Networks), or WhatsApp the word REGISTER to 0600 123 456.

If you are over 60 and registered for your COVID-19 vaccine, you can expect:

• An SMS confirming your registration.
• A second SMS 2 – 3 weeks later with an appointment date and the place.
• Get vaccinated with your first dose.
• Proof of vaccination card.
• An appointment date for your second dose.

As we move forward with phase 2, remember to:

• take your ID and present second SMS on the scheduled day.
• Arrive on the scheduled day of your booking. Not on a different day.
• Walk-ins are not permitted.

CURRENT COVID-19 STATS GARDEN ROUTE

We have noted an increase in COVID-19 cases in almost all sub-districts. Help us to keep our loved one safe by avoiding crowded places, close-contact settings and confined and enclosed spaces. Always wear a mask when in public, wash your hands, don’t touch your face, keep 1.5m apart, cover your cough and stay home when sick.
