Emergency Repair in Oudtshoorn on Sunday 24 May 2020

Oudtshoorn, 19 May 2020 – The Oudtshoorn Municipality has scheduled another major repair of the electricity infrastructure this coming Sunday, 24 May 2020. About two weeks ago, the Municipality repaired one of Eskom’s 22KV income breaker, which was successfully repaired.

This time, the Municipality will repair a 22KV breaker that is feeding the Bridgton sub-station. In order to enable the repair, the 22KV sub-station that feeds power to all the areas that were affected by the repair done on 10 May 2020 (Mother’s Day).

The Bridgton breaker broke last year; a claim to the insurance was submitted and have now been passed, hence the repair. 

The power supply will be switched off on Sunday, 24 May 2020 from 08:00 until 16:00.  The same areas that were affected on 10 May 2020 will be affected again.

Affected areas are as follows:

ALL AREAS NORTH OF VOORTREKKER ROAD

  • Oudtshoorn North
  • North-end
  • Wesbank North
  • Matjiesrivier

ALL AREAS IN THE EAST OF SPRINGBOK ROAD (EASTERN SIDE OF CORNER OF VOORTREKKER ROAD & SPRINGBOK ROAD) INCLUDING

  • Bridgton
  • Smartietown
  • Bongolethu (all areas including New extension and Vaalhuise)
  • Toekomsrus
  • Rosebank
  • Rosevalley

Dysselsdorp and De Rust will not be affected.
