Oudtshoorn, 16 May 2017 – Northern parts of Oudtshoorn have on Monday evening, 15 May 2017 experienced power failure due to a tree that fell on the electricity lines.
The Municipality immediately sent its electricity technicians to the scene to attend the damaged electricity lines.
On arrival, the officials discovered that a large pepper wood tree fell at the corner of Jan van Riebeeck and North Streets damaging power lines. The tree demolished all electricity conductors resulting to a power failure in Oudtshoorn North and North of Wesbank.
Electricity supply has already been restored in a portion of the affected areas. Municipal staff returned on Tuesday morning to cut fallen tree. A service provider which has been sourced to repair the damaged lines is now at the scene rebuilding the power line.
The remainder of the area will, according the electricity department, be restored this afternoon. Consumers in the affected areas are requested to consider the electricity installation to be alive at all time.
