De Rust Water still not drinkable after latest tests

Oudtshoorn, 22 February 2017 – De Rust water is still not drinkable, the latest water tests results revealed on Wednesday morning after samples were taken on Monday this week.

There is no E.coli in the water, but there is still a lot of total coliforms in water. The high turbidity makes the chlorination ineffective.

The iron content is below chronic health limit, but it will still taste bad and will stain clothes. This therefore means that the water is not ready for human consumption and washing.

We have increased the dosage of chlorine to clean the pipeline for the reduction of the total coliforms. We hope that the turbidity will be reduced with time.

Meanwhile, daily transportation of water from Oudtshoorn to De Rust continues.
