At just 18 years old, his journey is one of a young man chasing his dreams, and today, we celebrate his achievements with utmost pride. From the tender age of 12, he discovered his profound love for golf after he started playing golf with his father. It was a realization that sparked a fire within him, moving him towards a path of excellence in the sport.
Reflecting on his journey, Arries recalls how a twist of fate led him to discover his calling. An injury at the age of 12 redirected him towards the golf course, where he found his great love, golf. Since then, there has been no turning back for him, whose life revolves around the game he loves. He also extends his gratitude to the Greater Oudtshoorn Municipality for being part of this journey.
Arries’ parents, Jacobus and Sarah Arries, are very proud of their son’s achievements. Their support has been instrumental in his journey so far.
Currently balancing his studies with his dedication to golf, he is pursuing his Matric online through UCT. Sergio envisions attending TGSE Academy in Cape Town, where he aims to immerse himself fully in golf. Arries said his role model is Ricky Fowler as his humility and sportsmanship are qualities that he admires.
In words of encouragement to the youth, Arries urges them to prioritize education, find their passion, and live for it.
As we celebrate Arries’s accomplishments, let us be reminded of the power of passion, perseverance, and unwavering determination. The Greater Oudtshoorn Municipality do not doubt that his journey will continue to inspire a lot of youth.
