Oudtshoorn, 17 April 2026 – On 16 April 2026, the Library Regional Forum, in collaboration with various public libraries, hosted a Regional Forum event to recognise excellence within the library sector.
Libraries in Oudtshoorn fall under the Eden & Central Karoo region. This forum serves as both a training and networking platform, where various speakers and stakeholders are invited to share knowledge and strengthen collaboration within the sector. As the CJ Langenhoven Library is centrally located, the event is often hosted at this venue.
The forum was attended by representatives from George, Mossel Bay, Knysna, Kannaland, and Oudtshoorn, as well as the YearBeyond participants who commenced their service in April 2026.
The CJ Langenhoven Library, part of the Greater Oudtshoorn Municipality, received multiple awards in recognition of its outstanding performance within the Oudtshoorn region:
- Certificate of Excellence for being the Top Circulating Library within the Oudtshoorn region
- Certificate of Excellence for being a Top Circulating Library on OverDrive and Libby platforms
- Certificate of Excellence for achieving the Highest Library Membership within the Oudtshoorn region
- Certificate of Excellence for achieving the Highest Usage of RLCP Computers within the Oudtshoorn region
These achievements highlight the library’s continued commitment to promoting literacy, access to information, and community development.
The Municipality extends its sincere appreciation to the community for its ongoing support of public libraries. This recognition would not have been possible without the active participation and engagement of residents.
