REQUIREMENTS

  • A relevant National Diploma in Electrical Engineering
  • Registration as a Pr Techni Eng or eligible to be registered within two (2) years from date of appointment.
  • 8 years or more relevant experience
  • Wireman’s License will be an added advantage
  • Computer Literacy (MS Office)
  • Valid Code B drivers’ license
  • Proficient in at least two (2) of the three (3) official languages of the Western Cape

 

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

  • Ensure that workflow schedules, execution plans, and work execution comply to Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations
  • Approve building plans as submitted to Building Control division as to the compliance
  • Respond to bulk supply queries from consumers in person or as referred by the Income Section
  • Revenue enhancement and electricity measurement
  • Curb technical and non-technical losses to a minimum by regular attention to all meter installations
  • Manage service providers within contractual agreement
  • Compile and implement handling and control handling measure for domestic prepaid meters
  • Process and approve new applications in terms of Council’s Embedded Generation (SSEG) Policy, municipal by-laws, NRS Standards, safety regulations and Standard terms of regulations and safety legislation.
  • Manage Contractors and special service providers and certify invoices for correctness before submission to creditors or his/her immediate supervisor/manager.
  • Submit meter installation reports to Income section
  • Looming threads and risks
  • Preparation of tender documents
  • Put new consumers on record and inform Income section

Candidates must be willing to be subjected to an interview and written/competency assessment. They must also be aware that previous employers and recent references may be contacted, and their qualifications and criminal records be verified. The appointment will be subject to the signing of an employment contract, performance agreement and disclosure of interest.
