Oudtshoorn Municipality hereby informs the public of the implementation of a cashless payment system at selected municipal facilities with effect from 01 July 2026.
THE CASHLESS SYSTEM WILL BE IMPLEMENTED AT THE FOLLOWING FACILITIES:
• Traffic Department
• Cango Mountain Resort
• Cango Caves
• The Waterfall
This decision follows a feasibility assessment which confirmed that the continuation of cash collection and cash pick-up services is no longer financially viable at these municipal sites/facilities.
Council has resolved to support the administration in maintaining a cashless environment at the identified facilities to strengthen financial internal controls, reduce operational and security risks with continued handling of high volumes of cash, and improve overall operational efficiency.
Consumers and visitors will still be able to make payments conveniently through various electronic payment methods, including:
• Debit and credit card payments
• Electronic Fund Transfers (EFTs)
• Other approved digital payment platforms
Members of the public are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the new payment procedures before the implementation date of 01 July 2026.

Oudtshoorn Munisipalteit stel hiermee die publiek in kennis van die implementering van ’n kontantlose betalingstelsel by geselekteerde munisipale fasiliteite met ingang van 01 Julie 2026.
DIE KONTANTLOSE STELSEL SAL BY DIE VOLGENDE FASILITEITE GEÏMPLEMENTEER WORD:
• Verkeersdepartement
• Bergoord
• Kango Grotte
• Die Waterval
Hierdie besluit volg op ’n uitvoerbaarheidstudie wat bevestig het dat die voortsetting van kontantinvorderings- en kontantophaaldienste nie meer finansieel lewensvatbaar is nie.
Die Raad het besluit om die administrasie te ondersteun in die handhawing van ’n kontantlose omgewing by die geïdentifiseerde fasiliteite ten einde finansiële beheermaatreëls te versterk, operasionele- en veiligheidsrisiko’s te verminder en algehele bedryfsdoeltreffendheid te verbeter.
Verbruikers en besoekers sal steeds betalings gerieflik kan maak deur verskeie elektroniese betaalmetodes, insluitend:
- Debiet- en kredietkaartbetalings
- Elektroniese Fondsoorplasings (EFO’s)
- Ander goedgekeurde digitale betaalplatforms
Lede van die publiek word aangemoedig om hulself voor 01 Julie 2026 met die nuwe betalingsprosedures vertroud te maak.
